Setting
Effective March 12, 2013, the castle has leveled up!
Toran Castle looks like a rock sticking up in the middle of a lake but is really big and awesome inside. Think of it like the Tardis from Doctor Who. Looks are deceiving!
GROUNDS OF CASTLE
Docks, with boats
Of course, if you try to use a boat to leave, you'll be lost in the fog on Lake Toran and eventually wind up back at the castle.
Currently staffed by an NPC Dock Master
Stables, with horses and other livestock
Not just for rolling in the hay, yo. Now fully repaired and looking decent! Cows, sheep, chickens, and pigs are in ample supply. Horses can be stabled in the barn, too.
Currently staffed by an NPC Barn Manager
Graveyard
A place to remember those who have left us.
Farm, with produce
Better eat your veggies! You've got to keep your strength up for the
Currently staffed by NPC Farmers
Training Yard
For all of your weapon practicing and hand-to-hand combat needs.
Forest on the Island
There's a nice chunk of woods on the island. What lurks in there? Perhaps you're brave enough to find out!
BASEMENT
The Laboratory
We suggest not
Jail Cells
Three cells for whatever you need them for.
Gym
Equipped with weights and training equipment from every world, it's here for your use. Keep yourself buff in case Chaos shows up, all right?
Store Room
What it says on the tin. Stuff gets stored here, including weapons. Refrigeration is available.
Staircase
A stone staircase that connects all of the floors.
Elevator
It services all floors if you're too lazy/tired/drunk/whatever to use the stairs.
FIRST FLOOR
Entrance
A large arch entryway that leads into a huge foyer, complete with ornate decorations on the wall and ceiling.
Inn
Need a little privacy? The inn has six well-appointed rooms and two elegant suites, each with it's own bath.
Currently staffed by an NPC Innkeeper
Bar
No Suikoden castle would be complete without one! There are plenty of tables, booths, and stools ready for you to rest or party.
Your local bartender is Raven.
Stage
Located in the bar, there is a small stage ready for anyone who wishes to perform.
Cafeteria
You won't get any pudding unless you eat your meat!
For those less formal occasions when you don't need the Great Hall. It has tables, chairs, and a serving line. Nothing too exciting, folks.
Currently staffed by NPC Cafeteria Workers
Kitchens
For all your cooking needs. Ingredients magically appear. Usually.
Currently staffed by NPC Chefs
SECOND FLOOR
Great Hall
Where grand gatherings take place! Or maybe that's Di$neyWorld. I forget.
A large room that can serve banquets for the entire castle. It also contains a large fireplace, and the decor will mysteriously change depending upon the events held here.
Viki's Mirror of Awesome Blinkage
Now located in the foyer by the Great Hall!
Don't try to break it or it will hit back. Anyone who attempts to hurt the Mirror will find themselves cursed with a Status Effect! Do not taunt The Blinking Mirror! Viki is the one guarding it. Or tending it. Or even talking to it.
(As Little Viki says..."it's best not to ask.")
Storefronts
Here in Retail Alley, there are quite a few options for you to enjoy. Money in the castle is kept on these neat little cards that some call "credit cards." Whatever they are, they're certainly more convenient than dragging around all of that Potch! Of course, barters may be offered, but those are up to the shopkeeps!
Soup Nazi runs his soup stand. Please keep the line moving. He is a very busy man.
Denmark runs a deli. Let's hope he's given up trying to preserve fish...
Baths
Japanese style baths, because every Suikoden castle has them. Hey, you need a place to put that Peeing Boy statue!
There is a reception desk and lobby that's co-ed. Beyond that, there are locker rooms that are gender specific, and of course, men and women bathe separately. Or, at least they're supposed to. Behave yourselves. Or not.
Currently staffed by an NPC Bath Master
Co-Ed Pool and Hot Tub
An outdoor swimming pool with a western-style hot tub that is accessible from both the men's and women's baths. Both are heated, but still might be a bit chilly in the winter months.
No lifeguard. Swim at your own risk. Bathing suits required. Kinda.
THIRD FLOOR
Library
Some people like to read. It is well appointed with sofas, chairs, tables, and tons of books. The lighting is soft, and the atmosphere relaxing. There are books common to the Suikoden world as well as books from whichever world your character is from.
Office Row
A hallway near the library with offices of varying sizes and purposes. Each one has a window, and a brass nameplate on the door identifies the occupant.
Lt. Bookman keeps his office next door to the library. Gotta catch those crazy kids who keep moving those books!
Odessa Silverberg has the office next door. Is she plotting another revolution? No one knows for sure...
Hubert Oswell occupies the next office. Those strange shouts of "Tonight we feast on dead seafood! Go Ranger Red!" should best be ignored. You were hearing things, y'see.
Casey Novak takes up the next office. It looks just like the one she had in New York City, full of legal books and papers.
Mia Ausa occupies the next office. Decorated in pastel tones, the room fit for the next ruler of the Magic Guild of Vane.
Teresa Wisemail & Klaus Windamier have the last office in the hallway. The smell of shortbread and tea is enticing, but it's the discussions with these fascinating heroes from the Dunan Unification War that will keep bringing you back.
There are vacant offices available, too.
Infirmary
Mathiu Silverberg and Cheria Barnes seem to have this place under control. There are beds for patients, cabinets full of supplies, herbs and medicines from every world. There is a small office in the back of the infirmary that is shared amongst all infirmary workers.
FOURTH FLOOR
Co-Ed Dorms Numbered 401-420
See the Room Assignments for more info.
Restroom with Showers
Take a shower once in awhile. Your castlemates don't want to smell you.
FIFTH FLOOR
War Room
For all your SRS BDNZ war strategy planning. Or drinking. Or whatever.
It contains a large conference table, comfortable chairs, a blackboard, maps, and a small self-serve coffee and tea bar.
Music Room
It's a large room with a giant skylight, a special request from Judith. There's a piano in the center of the room, so hopefully you can play more than "Chopsticks." Furniture is comfortable and plush, so pull up a couch and enjoy the view and talents of your fellow castle dwellers.
ROOFTOP
Conservatory:
An indoor garden tended by Ghaleon. Are those...fairies? Or just lightning bugs? Wicker chairs and tables are abound for your relaxation needs.
Hanging Gardens:
The outdoor gardens on the roof which are the pride and joy of Sophie Lhant There are flowers from every world represented, but one little purple one seems to dominate the beds. There are a few benches as well, in case you would like to enjoy the view.
One final note:
There are NPCs available to serve you in various functions--innkeepers, shopkeepers, etc. While they are polite enough, they don't have any answers to your questions about the mission here at the castle. Are they even human? Who knows...
Also, if your character needs commercial space or if you just want there to be an NPC controlled bar, theater, or whatever, comment here.
